Heather's story...a Meaningful Make

The idea of a Meaningful Make first came to me when my cousin, living on the other side of the world was battling ovarian cancer. I felt so helpless. Geographical distance prevented me supporting her in the usual ways with meals or flowers, and phone calls and emails might not come at her darkest moments. I wanted her to constantly feel the abiding love and support our family was sending her. The concept of the Comfort Wrap was born.
My cousin ultimately lost her battle to cancer, but during her months of fighting, she told me how comforted she felt each time she wrapped herself in our love. That comforted me. It also inspired me and gave purpose to my art of crochet.
If you are a maker of a Meaningful Make know that you are weaving a beautiful story into each stitch. If you receive one, I hope you feel the intentions and blessings of the maker each time you are wrapped in your wearable hug.
How to Use a Meaningful Make
A Meaningful Make can be used to express feelings when the right words can’t be found. Sometimes they are an expression of love and support as it was for my cousin. Sometimes they are for a remembrance of a loved one and sometimes they are to mark a celebratory moment in life.
Regardless of the circumstance, they are always filled with meaning and intention. Colour, stitches, pattern, motifs and embellishments are all selected to convey this meaningful message. Each design has its own unique story to tell and are explained in more detail here
