Cancer Hat Series
Patterns with the cancer awareness ribbon symbol are part of the Cancer Hat Series. Hats in this series are suitable for anyone, but they have specific design details that make them especially appropriate for those dealing with the side effects from cancer and chemo treatments such as hair loss, sensitive heads and often feeling cold.
When designing these hats special consideration has been given to the following:
• Yarns are selected that are soft and comfortable on sensitive heads.
• For cooler climates, yarns are selected for warmth and for hotter climates more breathable yarns are recommended.
• Stitches selected don’t have a lot of open work that will expose the head and show hair loss.
• Stitch patterns aren’t heavily textured so that they don’t irritate the scalp.
• The shape of the hat is meant to give some volume as the head often appears smaller due to hair loss..
• The fit tends to be slightly looser for comfort and provide good hairline coverage.
• And style! The hats in this series have that little extra something to make the wearer feel good about themselves as they battle through a tough journey
Hats, Earbands, Mittens, Scarfs

Buckle Up Beanie
The Buckle Up Beanie is made using #6 bulky weight yarn so it makes up quickly (about 1 hour) and the thicker yarn gives extra warmth for cold winters. The Bernat Blanket yarn used for this version is super soft too. The single crochet stitch keeps the texture simple with no open work, keeps the cold out and doesn’t expose the head. The length of the hat is meant to reach the bottom of the ears to provide good hairline coverage. The simulated buckle ups the style factor. Complete the set with the Chunky Tech Touch Mittens
